Last summer I took on the challenge to see if I could learn how to design patterned papers. I had been playing around with the idea for about a year but never got serious about it until Queen and Company decided to add patterned papers their amazing and adorable shaker kits. I dove into teaching myself how to use Inkscape and Adobe Illustrator and learned all kinds of things about designing I never knew before. My first collection was lots of fun as I was given the chance to design anything I wanted to. That collection was called Picture Perfect and was sold with the Camera Shaker Card kit. I loved working with it! I created several cards and a layout with it...and it was a huge thrill to be working with patterns I dreamed up first in my head, then on screen, and finally on actual paper! After that collection came a super cute and fun Christmas line called Christmas Cheer...and then finally a few weeks back my third collection, Heart Throb, was introduced as part of the Heart Throb Shaker Kit. It's my favorite of the three that have been released. The colors are so bright and cheerful and fun with patterns that are playful and sweet without being too pastel or boring. I like energy and a vibe of playfulness in my papers!
In fact I really like those same vibes in my layouts as well! So, as you can imagine putting together this layout about my daughter's love of eclectic dress up outfits with the Heart Throb papers was really enjoyable!
I loved the papers so much I worked hard to get as many of the different papers on the layout as I could without overwhelming it. I think I fit in eight or nine different patterns out of the twelve in the collection. I cut out my title on my Cameo as I wanted it to be big and eye catching since it was an important start to the layout's story.
The heart shaped foam in the kit makes creating shakers so amazingly simple and easy. I think I made this one in less than two minutes and added it to my page as a playful focal point embellishment. Aren't the heart and flower shaped Toppings from the kit inside the shaker the cutest? I just love them! So far I've made 4 cards and a layout from my kit and I can't wait to make more!
Thanks for stopping by!
